What Article 5 requires
Restricts substances of concern in packaging and packaging components: general minimisation (5(1)); the sum of lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium in packaging or packaging components at or below 100 mg/kg (5(4)); and the explicit ban on PFAS in food-contact packaging above the trace thresholds set out in the article (5(5)) — all applying from 12 August 2026.
When Article 5 applies
One line per dated paragraph. Applies — the date has passed. Firm — written in the regulation, nothing in the pipeline can push it back. Conditional — a floor: the obligation starts on that date, or a set number of months after the act it waits on enters into force, whichever is later.

Each date above is a literal read from the regulation or the Commission guidance, never derived by arithmetic from entry into force. A date present in the reference with no entry in the catalogue fails our build.
